Packed with intelligent features, the system was designed to be fully flexible within the space left by the existing unit, easy to maintain and fun for customers to use:

• Metal frames in two and three-width modules that could be assembled and customised onsite to the required overall length
• A footprint that mirrored the exact dimensions of the existing system so the new unit could slot straight into its place 
• Slow-closing, gravity-fed bins made from polycarbonate, a lightweight material with high-impact strength
• Front-loaded pods to allow the bins to be refilled without being removed from the system
• Easily removable bins for fuss-free cleaning
• Graphic inserts on the front and large side graphic panels at each end to give maximum impact in situ
• Fully modular lighting

Before moving on to production, vacuum-formed and fabricated prototypes were produced to ensure that the point-of-purchase system worked as well in reality as it did on paper.

On approval of the prototypes, units were built, reviewed and upgraded across several trial sites before full-scale manufacturing commenced. In total, the following elements were produced with full print and electrics:

• 4,000 sweet bins, including 48 versions of printed inserts
• 80 two-width modules
• 250 three-width modules
 

  68 separate units across the country

The installation process was fully project managed by our in-house project and installation team. Each of the installs deliberately coincided with the removal of the existing system, ensuring no downtime and loss of sales.

Vue Cinemas have ownership of their equipment and greater flexibility in the procurement of candy. In fact, the savings made by having their own pick and mix display system enabled them to pay for the upgrade in just 12 months.

Such was the success of the project, the system is currently being trialled with other big-name cinema brands, including Showcase Cinemas and Empire Cinemas.
